Guard Luka Dončić dropped 42 points as the Lakers went 15-2 in March and clinched a playoff spot with a 127-113 win over the Cavaliers
After missing a game, the Lakers’ star guard hasn’t missed a beat.
After missing the Los Angeles Lakers’ 120-101 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday for accumulating 16 technical fouls, Luka Dončić returned to drop 42 points as the Lakers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 127-113 last night.
This victory clinched a playoff spot for Los Angeles and closed out March, where the Lakers went 15-2, climbing from the six seed to the three seed in the Western Conference.
Throughout the month, Dončić averaged 37.5 PPG, won Western Conference Player of the Week twice and became one of 10 players ever to score 600 points in a single month.
“I think Luka has had as good of a month as anybody that I can remember in the modern NBA, at least since I’ve been part of it,” Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick said.

Some more history was made last night, as Lakers forward LeBron James earned his 1,229th career win, surpassing Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most wins in NBA history. It was also Redick’s 100th career win as head coach.
The Cavaliers outscored the Lakers in the first period 34-32 before the Lakers outscored them in the second to 33-19 in the second to lead 65-53 at the half. Center Deandre Ayton came through in their big second half, scoring nine points with Dončić connecting two 3-pointers.
