Freshman forward Kareem Stagg announced he will return to Georgia for the 2026-27 season, providing another option for the starting lineup as the Bulldogs navigate offseason roster turnover.

Stagg played in all 33 games this season, making nine starts while averaging 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds. His return gives Georgia and head coach Mike White another athletic option in the frontcourt heading into next year.

Stagg quietly worked his way into the starting lineup late in the season, as White turned to the strong-bodied freshman at the power forward position alongside Somto Cyril, who announced his plans to enter the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon.

An emphatic finisher around the rim, Stagg began to carve out a consistent role down the stretch, bringing physicality and energy to Georgia’s frontcourt rotation.

Stagg got the starting nod in Georgia’s 102-77 loss to No. 9 seed Saint Louis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, making him just the second freshman this decade to start in a March Madness game for the Bulldogs.

The Chesapeake, Virginia, native and IMG Academy product was a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, holding offers from Michigan, Houston and Georgetown before ultimately choosing Georgia.

With Cyril departing and other roster moves looming, Stagg’s return marks an important retention for the Bulldogs, as he is expected to take on a more prominent role in the lineup next season.
