On Thursday, the league announced that Edgecombe has officially been named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in March. The acknowledgement is the first career monthly award for Edgecombe, who becomes the eighth player in Sixers franchise history to be named Rookie of the Month.
In 13 games played in March, Edgecombe averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 32.6 minutes per performance. He tallied two 30-plus point performances and two double-doubles in the month.
Edgecombe really stepped his game up in the absence of lead guard Tyrese Maxey, who was sidelined for 10 games during the month of March due to a finger injury. Without Maxey, Egecombe was asked to handle more of the ballhandling and playmaking duties for Philadelphia, and he handled the increased workload well.
But, while the individual award is cool for Edgecombe, and certainly well-deserved, but his main goal for the remainder of the season is a team-oriented one.

“Make the playoffs,” Edgecombe said of his goals for the final stretch, via Sixers Wire. “That’s what I want to do. I want to make the playoffs. Everything is 0-0. Kind of back to square one, not really, but everything is 0-0. So, that’s my main goal, man. I’ll be so honest with you. Everything else comes with that. Everything comes with winning in this league. You can be great, and if you don’t win, it don’t really matter. You know what I’m saying? So, I want to win.”
