MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – University of Memphis head men’s basketball coach Penny Hardaway continues to load up his staff in the wake of a disappointing 2025-26 season.
Hardaway announced the program’s first-ever general manager on Thursday, with Gabriel Harris stepping into the role.
Harris comes to Memphis after serving as general manager for the NBA G-League Stockton Kings, who he helped lead to a championship in 2025.
As GM, Harris will be oversee roster management, recruiting operations, revenue share strategy and player personnel evaluation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gabriel Harris to Memphis,” said Hardaway. “Gabriel brings a modern approach and new perspective to roster management, along with valuable experience at the professional level. His leadership and vision will be instrumental as we continue to build a championship-caliber program.”
Harris’ addition comes after Hardaway announced three new members to the coaching staff earlier this week associate head coach Tony Madlock and assistant coaches Sean Mock and Trevor DeLoach.
