Joel Embiid (illness) is doubtful for the Sixers’ home contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves on the front end of a back-to-back, according to the team’s initial injury report for the game unveiled on Thursday:

The Sixers have an injury report for tomorrow’s game vs. Minnesota:

Joel Embiid – illness – DOUBTFUL

Johni Broome – right knee surgery recovery – OUT

This is the front end of a back-to-back.

Embiid, who missed 13 consecutive games to begin March due to a right oblique strain, returned to action last Wednesday and dominated in the Sixers’ blowout win over the Chicago Bulls. Two nights later, he helped the Sixers pull out a win down the stretch against the surging Charlotte Hornets. On Monday, Embiid and the Sixers fell short in Miami against the Heat, and the former NBA MVP told reporters he had played through an illness, which the team never listed on its injury reports.

Despite not being listed on the team’s initial injury report for the game, Embiid was ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards in the morning due to his illness. Hysteria ensued, as Embiid took part in an April Fools’ Day joke, sending two tweets implying he was going to play.
