After earning ACC Player of the Year honors, Duke forward Cameron Boozer seems like a lock to wind up as a top-three selection in the 2026 NBA Draft along with AJ Dybantsa (BYU) and Darryn Peterson (Kansas).

In 38 games with the Blue Devils, Boozer averaged a double-double with 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He also averaged 1.4 steals and shot 39.1% from three-point range.

Although some have knocked Boozer due to his lack of apparent athleticism, an Eastern Conference scout pushed back on that notion recently, comparing Boozer to one of the NBA’s biggest stars.

According to Jeremy Woo and Tim Bontemps of ESPN, that player was Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic.

“He doesn’t look the part athletically, so people put limits on him,” said the scout of Boozer. “I don’t know why people keep putting a ceiling on him before he’s 19. There’s a lot of ways to talk about athleticism, not just how high you can jump, and he always plays the most efficient way he can to help his team win.”

With the draft lottery still on the horizon, any of the aforementioned trio could end up as the No. 1 overall pick.

That said, Boozer’s pedigree, experience and winning mentality may be what sets him apart from other prospects.
