The Georgia Bulldogs and coach Mike White will be busy in the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. Georgia has to replace at least four players that have plans to enter the portal (which officially opens on April 7) with several other key players facing decisions including guard Blue Cain and forward Kanon Catchings.

Georgia is certainly going to prioritize size in the transfer portal. The Bulldogs are expected to lose 7-foot-1 center Jackson McVey and All-SEC defensive team selection Somto Cyril to the portal.

In addition to size, Georgia will also look for some scoring. The Bulldogs are expected to lose leading scorer Jeremiah Wilkinson to the portal. A potential replacement for Wilkinson would be Kennesaw State Owls transfer guard RJ Johnson.

Johnson checks a lot of boxes for Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound guard is built like a linebacker and has NCAA Tournament experience after helping lead the Owls to a Conference USA championship. Johnson was named as the Conference USA Tournament MVP and was a first-team All-Conference USA selection.

The redshirt sophomore has two years of eligibility left, which is something Georgia values. The Bulldogs could look to keep Johnson in the Peach State when the portal opens, but he won’t be short on suitors. 247Sports ranks Johnson as a four-star transfer and the No. 69 transfer in the country. He’s the No. 10 combo guard and is a product of Grissom High School in Huntsville, Alabama.

Johnson medically redshirted during the 2024-2025 season, so health could be a factor in his recruitment even though he is coming off a season where he played in 34 games including 22 starts. Johnson’s three-point shooting ability (42.3% in 2025-2026) is another reason he’ll be a coveted transfer. Johnson averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game last season.
