Zach Thompson details his best player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday’s matchup between the Pelicans and the Kings.
The final matchup of the NBA’s nine games this Friday is the nightcap of the NBA TV doubleheader. The New Orleans Pelicans are traveling to the Golden 1 Center to take on the Sacramento Kings at 10:10 p.m. ET. While neither team is headed to the postseason, both teams do have some interesting players and pieces that they’re evaluating over the last several games of the regular season. Let’s take a look at some of the top options for player prop bets on each side of this Western Conference contest.
In the bigger picture of the matchup, the Pelicans are 5.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a game total of 234.5 points.
The Pelicans are 25-52 and just 9-29 on the road, while the Kings are 20-57 with a 13-25 record at home. The Pelicans have lost six straight, including a loss on Thursday in Portland. The Kings had lost six of seven games before bouncing back with a win on Wednesday against the Raptors in Toronto.
For the second game of their back-to-back, the Pelicans have listed Dejounte Murray as out, Karlo Matkovic as questionable, and Trey Murphy III as probable. On the Kings’ side, Malik Monk is questionable and could join Russell Westbrook, Domantas Sabonis, Keegam Murray, Zach LaVine and De’Andre Hunter, who will all remain out this Friday.
Pelicans at Kings Best Prop Bets
Nique Clifford o1.5 3 PM (+113)
Clifford has helped pick up some of the slack lately for the Kings and has moved into the starting lineup in 13 of his last 14 games. He has averaged 1.4 3PM during that stretch and scored 11.9 points in 33.4 minutes per game.
The rookie from Colorado has made exactly one three-pointer in each of his last three games but has attempted 13 three-pointers in those contests. He made multiple three-pointers in five of his last 10 games, averaging 1.6 3PM on 4.1 three-point attempts per game.
If Monk is out, there will be even more work and opportunities available in this smash spot against the Pelicans. Clifford is trying to prove he can be a part of the team’s future plans, and should stay aggressive over the rest of the season.
Herbert Jones o9.5 Points (-110)
Jones scored nine points against the Trail Blazers on Thursday in 26 minutes, but he reached double-digit points in nine of his previous 13 games. He averaged only 10.0 points per game over those 13 contests, since his games under were very far under.
Jones’ best game during that stretch was a 16-point performance against the Raptors in a win a couple of weeks ago, and without Murray, he could get a few more opportunities. Jones is best known for his defense, but he has averaged 9.4 field goal attempts over his last 14 games, including 5.3 three-point attempts per game.
He had 12 points in his last matchup against the Kings back on March 5, and he should get enough usage to reach double-digit points again on Friday night.
Maxime Raynaud u15.5 Points (-120)
The Kings have been giving rookie center Maxime Raynaud plenty of playing time this season with Domantas Sabonis done for the year. He is averaging 11.9 points in 26.1 minutes per game on the season, and he has come in under this prop line in three of his last four games.
Raynaud only played 23 minutes on Wednesday in Toronto and ended up with six points on just 2-of-4 shooting. He has the potential to go off with a big game, but his role has been a little smaller lately, and with Precious Achiuwa and Daeqwon Plowden playing well, he could be held in check again on Friday.
The Pelicans’ defense has had its issues all season, but against centers, they usually play better defense than league average.
Bonus Parlay Pick: Derik Queen o12.5 Points (-106)
If you’re building an SGP (Same Game Parlay) for the Friday night matchup, one way to boost the odds even higher is to take the over on Queen’s attainable scoring line. Adding this into the mix as the fourth player prop boosts the SGP all the way up to +1200 odds for these four Pelicans-Kings bets.
Queen is one of the Pelicans’ promising rookies, but his playing time has fluctuated now that the team is healthy. When given a chance, Queen has stuffed the stat sheet, and in this favorable spot against the Kings, the Pelicans could give him extra work to let him shine. Queen has scored at least 11 points in four straight games with 13 points to go over this prop in two of his last four contests. He had 12 points in his most recent matchup with Sacramento. He has a good chance to get more playing time after logging 22+ minutes in three straight games and taking at least 10 field goal attempts in each of his last four.
