LeBron James’ recent comments about the Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks have rubbed many the wrong way, but Doc Rivers made light of the jabs.
Rivers joked that since James isn’t satisfied with the hotels in Milwaukee, the city should spruce things up. He also joked that the Bucks should trade for James to let him experience more of the city.
“The way I read the Milwaukee thing, he didn’t take a shot at the city, he took a shot at the hotels,” Rivers said. “…So, yeah, let’s build a Four Seasons or a Ritz-Carlton, I guess… So I think we should trade for him; that would be my answer. Let him see Milwaukee, and I think he would change his take.”
James appeared in a video on the Bob Does Sports YouTube show earlier this week, where he said that he doesn’t like playing in Memphis and said that the team should move to Nashville.
In clarifying those comments, James took a shot at Milwaukee.
“Forty-one years old. There’s two cities I do not like playing in right now. That’s Milwaukee and that’s Memphis,” he told reporters Saturday. “… I don’t like going home, either, s–t and I’m from there. People are ridiculous.”
While James’ comments may have been partially in jest, he certainly has upset some fan bases this week, while also crossing two teams off the list of his possible free agency landing spots.
