In the end, no deal happened for both teams around the Greek superstar.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has confirmed that the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks had past trade discussions around him during the past offseason.

In the end, nothing materialized for both teams, as the talks had never reached any serious stage.
“There were a lot of rumors about me,” Antetokounmpo told Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “There was a lot of uncertainty about me – from both sides.”
It was revealed by Shams Charania of ESPN that the Bucks and the Knicks were having conversations about Antetokounmpo throughout the past August. As such, no deal happened as New York felt Milwaukee hadn’t been serious about landing a blockbuster trade.
As such, in the wake of the Bucks’ eventual struggles this season, the Knicks also emerged as one of the rumored top suitors for Antetokounmpo until the Greek star stayed put in Milwaukee beyond the previous Feb. 5 trade deadline.
It’s been widely reported that the Knicks have been the most prominent destination being identified by Giannis, as he is determined to help the franchise win its first NBA title since 1973.
Right now, Antetokounmpo stands disgruntled about his current situation with the Bucks regarding his playing availability lately this season. The investigation continues for the NBA between him and the team’s case around the Player Participation Policy.
Both sides have raised contradicting sentiments. While Giannis claimed he is healthy from his knee injury, the Bucks have argued that the two-time MVP remains unready to return.
Due to his continued absence from the Bucks since March 15, Giannis missed the chance to play alongside his younger brother Alex.
“You know me, and maybe sometimes when you put this in the story, they won’t believe, but you know me,” Antetokounmpo said. “You saw me. I grabbed my brother’s jersey and the ball. I ran to the car, I was looking for my mom, right? My mom was here. I told her to come back, right? I told my mom to stay, so she could give Alex a hug. Do you think I don’t want to play a basketball game with my little brother?
“This hurts me.”
