After playing hard for 48 minutes on the hardwood, Dennis Rodman would hit The Windy City’s club scene to party harder during his time with the Chicago Bulls. Rodman’s magnetism during that stretch was so potent that it transcended the typical boundaries of celebrity worship.

According to The Worm’s own flamboyant accounts, his bad boy charisma was irresistible at the time, which bordered on absurdity. As Rodman described it, his popularity made him an ultimate ladies’ man, the kind of guy all kinds of women would dig.

Rodman boldly claimed that even married women would seek out his company at night. What’s even crazier about it is that Dennis never once got in trouble with their husbands.

“I’d go to some bar or something like that, and I’d see some of the guys’ wives at the bars. And then I’d start talking to those girls,” Rodman told The Athletic in 2018. “Next thing you know, after some games, most of the wives would come out with me all the time until three or four in the morning. Like, ‘We know where you’re at, you’re with Dennis Rodman, huh?’ But it was such a great, great three years here.”

Rodman had a blast in Chicago

The Bulls knew well what they were getting into when they traded for Rodman in 1995. His partying and wild antics could be an issue, but they understood they had acquired a smart player with championship experience who could grab 20 rebounds a night and play an entire game.

For Dennis, it was also the reason why the Chicago faithful adored him. Rodman didn’t really care much back then, but looking back, he believed that his relentless motor and blue-collar hustle on the court kind of earned him a pass for his regular Rated-R escapades.

“I think the people of Chicago loved the way I did it,” Rodman reflected. “I partied my a— off. I was the rockstar by myself. I went out almost every night. I mean, I had a blast in Chicago. I don’t know how I did it. But I did it. When I came to Chicago, the first two years, I really didn’t talk to the players. I really didn’t talk to nobody on the team. Outside of basketball, we never talked. I did my own thing because I was going out a lot.”

Rodman never lied about women

What Rodman revealed was no surprise, as he was never one to shy away from publicizing his wild sex life. What’s even more fascinating is that the seven-time rebounding champion never cared if people believed his stories or not.

In fact, Rodman admitted that there was no way for him to track his body count with women. Even if that was the case, Dennis stressed that he would never lie about it like Witl Chamberlain did when he boasted about sleeping with 20,000 women.

“Fifty percent of life in the NBA is sex,” Rodman once said. “The other fifty percent is money.”

“I would never keep track of the number of women I’ve been with,” added Rodman. “I can’t lie like Wilt Chamberlain. There’s no scoreboard in my bedroom.”

All told, the Worm’s tenure with the Bulls was a masterclass in functional chaos. His ability to understand the team’s shared goal and make a significant contribution to it while maintaining a rockstar persona remains a puzzle.

Perhaps, it’s safe to say that there will never be another Rodman.
