Anthony Davis (hand) and Trae Young (quad, back) will no longer play for Washington this season.
Anthony Davis (hand) and Trae Young (quad, back) are set to miss the rest of the 2025-26 regular season for the Washington Wizards, head coach Brian Keefe told reporters ahead of the team’s Tuesday game against the Chicago Bulls.Â
The Wizards have three more games left after the upcoming home matchup with the Bulls.
Davis hasn’t played a Washington game since he was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. The star big man notably sustained ligament damage in his left hand last January and didn’t consider a surgical procedure in hopes of still returning this season.
Keefe revealed that the Wizards tried to ramp up Davis’ rehabilitation, but they ultimately ran out of time.
Davis tallied 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals per game in just 20 games out of an injury-riddled campaign in Dallas prior to his D.C. arrival.
Obtained from the Atlanta Hawks, Young only appeared for five games due to his problematic back issues. Across these minimal appearances, he tallied 15.2 points in nearly 60 percent shooting with 6.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 20 minutes.
The Wizards (17-61) are already gearing up for the next 2026-27 season, expecting that Davis and Young will be fully healthy to lead their promising group back to contention.
