Mikal Driver is being celebrated for expanding opportunity and reshaping outcomes for Atlanta’s next generation.
ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks turned the spotlight from the court to the community Monday night, honoring Atlanta educator and youth advocate Mikal Driver as an “Atlanta Changemaker” during their game against the New York Knicks at State Farm Arena.
Driver, a proud Atlanta native and founder of Prodigious Academy, was recognized in front of thousands of fans for his work creating pathways of opportunity for young people across the city. Selected from more than 670 nominees, he represents a growing movement of local leaders driving change from the ground up.
With more than a decade of experience, Driver has built a career at the intersection of education, equity, and youth development, leading initiatives that strengthen classroom culture, support families, and expand access to college and career opportunities. Through his work, he has helped reimagine how schools and communities work together to support long-term student success.
The recognition is part of the Atlanta Changemakers initiative, in partnership with Be The People, which aims to elevate community-led solutions and inspire broader civic action.
