LeBron James has indicated that he will take time to contemplate his future in the game following the Los Angeles Lakers’ exit from the NBA play-offs at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite aiming for a fifth NBA championship, James’ aspirations were dashed after a 103-96 defeat, during which the league’s all-time leading scorer notched up 22 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. However, it wasn’t enough to prevent the Timberwolves from sealing their progress with a 4-1 series triumph.

James, who has matched Vince Carter’s 22-season NBA record and is only 49 regular-season games away from breaking Robert Parish’s 1,611 game record, re-signed with the Lakers on a two-year deal back in 2024.

Speaking about how much longer he’ll remain in the sport, James disclosed: “I don’t have the answer to that.”

He further elaborated, “Something I’ll sit down with my wife and my support group and just talk through it, and see what happens. Just have conversations with myself on how long I want to continue to play. I don’t know the answer to that right now, to be honest.”

Asserting control over his career trajectory, James added, “It’s up to me if I’m going to continue to play, or how long I’m going to continue to play, so it has nothing to do with anybody else.”
