SAN ANTONIO – The Spurs and the City of San Antonio are breathing a little easier today.

Victor Wembanyama is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game against Portland with a rib bruise.

The injury came from a collision he had with Philadelphia’s Paul George early in the second quarter last night.

Senior NBA insider Chris Haynes is reporting that Wembanyama had an MRI and nothing serious showed up.

The good news: Wembanyama will be day-to-day moving forward. We’ll see what kind of shape he’s in at today’s shootaround.

Victor did not play in the second half of the Spurs’ win over the Sixers, but plenty of players stepped up in his absence.

Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper combined for 30 points off the bench, while Steph Castle had a 19-point triple-double to lead the Spurs to their 60th win of the season.

Now Steph Castle is also listed as doubtful with knee soreness.

In order to qualify for postseason awards, Wembanyama must play at least 20 minutes or more in just one of the three remaining games. There’s plenty of time for Wembanyama and the Spurs to pick the right spot.
