Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is a three-time NBA MVP.
The Denver Nuggets achieved something that they have not done before during the Nikola Jokic era on Wednesday night. The Nuggets earned an easy win over the injury-depleted Memphis Grizzlies team.
Jokic dropped his 34th triple-double of the season, putting up 14 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in Denver’s 136-119 victory. He now has 198 for his career, two shy of joining former teammate Russell Westbrook in the 200 triple-doubles club.
The three-time MVP has a chance to achieve it in the final two games of the regular season against the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
Nuggets Make History
Denver’s win on Wednesday extended its streak to 10, which is the current longest in the NBA.
According to FanDuel, it was the Nuggets’ first 10-game win streak in the Jokic era. They last achieved it during the 2012-13 NBA season, when they won 15 in a row.

The Nuggets drafted Jokic in the second round a year later, which changed the trajectory of the franchise. The Serbian turned into one of the greatest players the game has ever seen, and he’s not even past his prime.
Jokic helped deliver the first NBA championship in franchise history in 2023.
Jokic on 10-Win Streak
Speaking to reporters after the game, Jokic was surprised to learn that it was his first 10-game win streak.
Nevertheless, Jokic was just happy to get the win and liked how they are playing in the final stretch of the regular season.
“We had some close games, we had some blowouts, we had some like I don’t know, that’s fine,” Jokic said. “We found a way to win the game, and that’s, well, the most important thing, and that’s stood out to me.”

As for potentially locking the third seed, Jokic thought that it’s not really important because of how good teams are.
“I don’t know,” Jokic said. “Did we really look at it? We just wanted to play it good. I think if you guys remember that’s what I was telling you. We need to play good and feel good about ourselves just because the league is so talented. Everybody, anybody can beat everybody, so just playing good and have the right rhythm.”
If the Nuggets finish the season at No. 3, they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.
What’s Next For Denver?
The Nuggets have two more games before the end of the regular season. They welcome the defending champions at Ball Arena on Friday, in what could be a game with a playoff-like atmosphere.
However, the Thunder could also rest some of their players since they’ve already locked homecourt advantage for the entire playoffs.
Denver’s regular-season finale will be against the Spurs in San Antonio. They have had Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs’ number in their last two meetings.
The Spurs have only lost three games since March 1, two of which were courtesy of Jokic and the Nuggets.
