The San Antonio Spurs have announced Stephon Castle‘s injury status for Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs are set to host the Mavericks at the Frost Bank Center for their penultimate game of the regular season.
One of the most surprising teams of the season is the Spurs. Not a lot of people predicted them to win 60 games in Victor Wembanyama‘s third year. Coach Mitch Johnson has done a wonderful job getting the best out of each of his players.
Castle was also a surprise breakout player, averaging 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He’s shooting 47.3% from the field, 32.8% from beyond the arc and 73.7% from the charity stripe.

The Spurs have released their official injury report for Friday’s game against the Mavericks. Castle was listed as questionable because of left foot soreness. He is in danger of missing his second game in a row.
The second-year guard was on the sidelines in San Antonio’s 112-101 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with right knee soreness, but he was able to participate in shootaround, as reported by ESPN.
Castle is expected to be re-evaluated before tip-off. He could get upgraded to available or downgraded to out. It’s a no-bearing game for the Spurs since they are already locked into the second seed in the West.
Nevertheless, it would be a great momentum booster if the Spurs could end the regular season on a winning streak.

Castle wasn’t the only player on the Spurs’ injury report. He was joined by Wembanyama, David Jones Garcia, Harrison Ingram and Emanuel Miller.
Wemby is listed as questionable with a left rib contusion. He is required to play for at least 20 minutes on Friday against the Mavericks or on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets. He is one game shy of being eligible for awards this season.
Ingram is also questionable, but he’s not dealing with an injury. He’s on a two-way contract, which limits his appearances for the Spurs. Miller is on a two-way deal as well, though he has already been listed as out.
And as for Jones Garcia, he has been out for the season since undergoing right ankle surgery in February.
Castle Graces Cover of SLAM Magazine
There’s no secret that the Spurs have a star in Castle, who seems to be a great partner for Wembanyama for years to come. He took the next step into stardom by gracing the cover of SLAM Magazine.
The publication revealed Castle’s cover on Thursday, joining other Spurs greats such as Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard, who have been on the cover of the popular basketball magazine.
On one end, he’s suffocating the League’s best. On the other, he’s driving one of the most powerful offensive engines in the game. Witness the rise of a two-way force as Stephon Castle covers SLAM 261.
Castle will have the opportunity to shine on a bigger stage in the upcoming NBA playoffs.
