I’m betting both Charlotte -5.5 and over 225.5 points tonight. When I break down this Eastern Conference clash, it essentially boils down to a massive clash of offensive philosophies. The Hornets want to get up and down the court, aggressively pushing the pace to launch from deep behind the perimeter playmaking of LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller.
Meanwhile, the Pistons, a top NBA Championship odds contender, rely on a slower halfcourt offense, leaning on Cade Cunningham’s dynamic dribble penetration and Jalen Duren’s muscle in the paint to generate high-percentage looks inside the arc.
Charlotte has dropped their last four head-to-head meetings against Detroit, but they have everything to play for tonight, while the Pistons playoff destiny is set. The Hornets enter play tied for 8th in the East, but sit just two games out of 6th place and an automatic entry into the postseason.
On the other side, the Pistons have locked up top spot in the East, and have struggled mightily against stout defensive units, going just 1-3 (25.0%) ATS against top-10 scoring defenses recently. I trust Charlotte’s eighth-ranked offensive rating (115.0) to outlast Detroit’s pressure.

The Hornets rank second in the NBA in second-chance points (17.8 per game), while the Pistons are right on their heels in fifth (16.9). Elite rebounding leads to extra paint touches and second-chance scoring, which is the perfect recipe for eclipsing an elevated total.
