THE FIRST THING IS JUST THE ONGOING DISPUTE ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT HE’S HEALTHY ENOUGH TO PLAY. HE WANTS TO PLAY WITH HIS BROTHERS. THIS MAKES EVERYBODY UNCOMFORTABLE. NEPOTISM AND TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS HAVE TWO OF HIS BROTHERS ON THE TEAM. BUT THE FACT IS, IS THE NASA AND ALEX ARE SUITED UP. IT’S KILLING HIM RIGHT NOW TO BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH THEM. ABOUT IT TO HE’S GETTING INCREASINGLY ANGRY ABOUT IT. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES AS WELL, MOSTLY LEADING UP TO THE FACT THAT THE DISAPPOINTMENT THAT HE HAD LEADING UP TO THIS SEASON AND THE PROBLEMS THAT HE SAW WITH THE BUCKS IN THE BEGINNING, IN THE OUTSET, AND THEN HOW THE SEASON HAS PLAYED OUT THROUGHOUT, AND KIND OF A LACK OF COMMUNICATION. THERE’S SO MANY ISSUES. >> OWNER WES EDENS TOLD ESPN THAT GIANNIS WILL BE EITHER TRADED OR EXTENDED THIS OFFSEASON, AND HE TOOK SOME OFFENSE TO THAT. WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT? >> SOUNDS LIKE THE BUCKS WANT AN EARLY COMMITMENT FROM HIM. AND THEY MADE THAT PUBLIC. THAT’S THE PROBLEM THAT GIANNIS HAS. TO HIM. IT WAS EXTREMELY INSULTING BECAUSE TO GIANNIS IT WAS A QUESTION OR A CHALLENGE OF HIS LOYALTY. IN GIANNIS POINT OF VIEW, HE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT LOYAL TO THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. HE HAS SIGNED EVERY CONTRACT EXTENSION THROUGHOUT THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN GIANNIS AND THE TOP BRASS AT THE BUCKS, WHETHER IT’S THE OWNERS, THE GENERAL MANAGER OR PEOPLE WHO ARE RUNNING THINGS, PEOPLE WHO ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE TEAM THAT AFFECT WHETHER OR NOT HE SHOULD SIGN, AREN’T COMMUNICATING WITH HIM. AND SO HE’S ISOLATING HIMSELF. HE FELT EXTREMELY INSULTED BY THAT COMMENT. >> NOW, GIANNIS DID TELL YOU HE DOES SEE A PATH TO RETURN HERE TO MILWAUKEE NEXT SEASON. >> ONE OF THE THINGS THAT HE SAID IN THE REPORTS THAT I DID IS THAT IT’S VERY DIFFICULT TO WIN IT ALL JUST BY HIMSELF. HE DIDN’T HAVE A DAMIAN LILLARD. HE DIDN’T HAVE A JRUE HOLIDAY. THERE’S NO BROOK LOPEZ DOWN BELOW PROTECTING THE RIM. HE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT THE PLAN IS GOING FORWARD. IS THERE GOING TO BE A WINGMAN TO COME IN AND HELP HIM CHALLENGE FOR ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP. >> HOW MUCH IS GIANNIS FAMILY A FACTOR IN HIS FUTURE HERE IN MILWAUKEE. >> I’M NOT SURE. THAT DOES SEEM LIKE A REALLY REALLY GOOD QUESTION STEPHANIE. BECAUSE THOSE ARE ROSTER SPOTS THAT ARE OCCUPIED BY ANTETOKOUNMPO’S. DO THE BUCKS FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH CONTINUING TO SIGN THE BROTHERS AND KEEP THEM ON THE ROSTER TO KEEP GIANNIS HAPPY, OR CAN THEY BE HONEST WITH HIM AND SAY IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON? IF WE’RE GOING TO REBUILD, WE NEED TO DO IT TOTALLY AND START OVER. >> AFTER LEADING THE BUCKS TO A CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2021, IS IT KIND OF CRAZY TO THINK THAT GIANNIS IS SORT OF THE VILLAIN IN THIS DRAMA, WITH THE BUCKS. >> BACK IN JANUARY, THE MOST STUNNING THING IN THE WORLD HAPPENED. THE BUCKS FANS BOOED THE TEAM AND GIANNIS BOOED THE FANS BACK. NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. IT WAS DIFFERENT WHEN HE DID IT IN INDIANAPOLIS, BUT HE WAS BOOING HIS OWN FANS BACK WHEN THAT HAPPENED, EVERYTHING CHANGED WITH HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ORGANIZATION, I THINK, AND WITH THE FAN BASE, AND THAT’S THE FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD HIM SAY I’M THE VILLAIN NOW. GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO, YOU KNOW, OUR SMOOTHIE KING, THE DAD JOKE GUY, THE GUY WHO WALKS AROUND IN, YOU KNOW, SEVEN FOOT TALL HALLOWEEN COSTUMES, THE GUY WHO WAS AT WISCONSIN STATE FAIR TEN DAYS AFTER HE WON THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP THAT SUMMER OF JULY OF 2021. NOW HE’S THE VILLAIN. HE JOKES AROUND AND HE SAYS HE’S OKAY WITH IT. BUT I DON’T BELIEVE THAT FOR A SECOND. >> HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK LEBRON JAMES’S NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THE CITY OF MILWAUKEE IN THE BUCKS HAVE A FACTOR, MAYBE ON GIANNIS FUTURE BEING HERE? >> I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT THOSE CONVERSATIONS ARE LIKE. I THINK WE REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY NEED TO TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY. WE GOT LUMPED IN WITH MEMPHIS. THAT’S HOW BAD OUR REPUTATION IS.
