Doc Rivers spoke openly about the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee, saying the team needs to improve its roster to keep him long term. Rivers admitted that if the Milwaukee Bucks cannot build a true title contender, Giannis could consider looking elsewhere, as the Bucks continue a difficult season outside the playoff picture.
The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee is once again a big talking point, as the Milwaukee Bucks continue to struggle through a difficult season.

Head coach Doc Rivers addressed the situation and was very honest about where the team stands and how it could impact their star player going forward.
Asked directly about what Giannis wants, Rivers did not give a simple answer and admitted the situation is complicated.
“Oh, boy. I don’t know. Uh, and we talk probably more than anyone. It’s a tough one because he has done such a great job here in Milwaukee, and yet he still wants to win a title,” he said during the Dan Patrick Show. “And clearly, we have to do a better job here with our roster to make that even look like a possibility. And if we can’t do that, then he’s going to look outward. And so I think that’s a two-fold answer. I think one, if we had all the pieces here, I have no doubt he’d want to stay here. But we don’t. And so that puts him in a tough spot.”
The Bucks are currently fighting through a tough stretch, sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 32-49 record. That puts them outside the playoff picture and far from the expectations set at the start of the season.
Despite the team’s struggles, Giannis is still putting up elite numbers. In 36 games played, he averages 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 62.4% from the field.
