We’re back to conclude the NBA regular season with a betting prediction and pick for this Eastern Conference tilt between playoff-bound teams. The Orlando Magic (45-36) visit the Boston Celtics (55-26) in the season’s finale, Boston leading the series 2-1. Check our NBA odds series for the Magic-Celtics prediction and pick.
The Orlando Magic are seventh in the Eastern standings, tied with the Toronto Raptors in sixth and still able to avoid the play-in tournament. They beat the Chicago Bulls 127-103 their last time out and hope to end their regular season schedule with a sixth-consecutive win here.
The Boston Celtics are locked into their NBA Playoff seeding at No. 2 in the East, lastly beating the New Orleans Pelicans 144-118. They’ve won eight of their last 10 games and will likely face this Magic team or Philadelphia in the first round depending on the play-in tournament results.

Keys to Magic vs. Celtics Matchup
The Celtics have control in this season series winning two of the three games, but as they’re guaranteed the No. 2-seed in the NBA Playoffs, they’ll wisely be sitting their starters and a number of bench players for the season finale at home. The Magic, on the other hand, can avoid the play-in tournament with a win and seeing a loss from the Toronto Raptors, who host the Brooklyn Nets at home in their finale. Staring down a play-in matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 8 means a win is in their best interest as they’ll hope for luck to be on their side.
The Celtics will start a patchwork lineup consisting of Ron Harper Jr. running things from the guard spot while familiar faces Baylor Scheierman and Luka Garza will highlight other spots. Guard Jordan Walsh will also see a start and he’s shooting a solid 50% from three during this season series against the Magic. If the Orlando defenders are lazy in closing out on both Walsh and Scheierman (45% from three over his last 10 games), the Celtics could put together some surprising runs throughout and force the Magic to work for their lead.
Still, the Magic will have the clear advantage with their starters playing the majority of this one as Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Desmond Bane have taken initiative to lead their team in scoring down this late stretch. Wendell Carter Jr. may see limited minutes as he continues to deal with minor injury, but the Magic should be fully focused on building a lead early with their starters and allowing them additional rest prior to the playoffs.
As for the Celtics, they’ll be awaiting the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 play-in matchup, which currently stands as the (7) Orlando Magic and the (8) Philadelphia 76ers. This game at home could be a great opportunity for the Celtics to gain additional game footage and a feel for one of their potential opponents in the coming week.
Magic vs. Celtics Prediction and Pick
This game should be all Orlando Magic from start to finish, but don’t at all be surprised if the Celtics’ second and third units are able to hit some deep shots and give the corwd something to cheer about during this regular season finale.
I expect the Orlando Magic to grow a strong lead at halftime, extending it into the third quarter and eventually pulling their own starters from the game. They’ve beaten this Celtics team at full-strength and they’re playing hard knowing what’s at stake in the playoff seeding, so expect them to get this win and cover the spread by a close margin.
Final Magic-Celtics Prediction & Pick: Orlando Magic -12.5 (-112); UNDER 221.5 (-115)
