It was another disappointing season for Georgetown basketball. They have now missed the tournament in five straight seasons and are looking to turn it around. They have also already lost KJ Lewis in the transfer portal.

Now, Georgetown is bringing in a star player from Kentucky in the College Basketball Transfer Portal, according to Tobias Pass of The Athletic.

Jaland Lowe is heading to Georgetown. Lowe was a monee for the 2023 McDonald’s All American Game as a high school player in Texas. He would commit to the University of Pittsburgh out of high school. He was great in his freshman year at Pitt. In 2023-24, he played 33 games with 19 starts, and averaged 26.5 minutes per game. That season, he scored 9.6 points per game while adding 2.8 rebounds per game.

The next season, he would be even better. Lowe played in 31 games, all as a starter, and averaged 35.5 minutes per game. He scored 16.8 points per game while adding 4.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists. That earned him third-team All-ACC honors. After the season, he would transfer to Kentucky.

His lone season in Kentucky was filled with injuries. He played in just nine games, making two starts. Further, he played in just three minutes in his final game, January 10 against Mississippi State, before his season was ended. While his season was cut short, he showed what made him a solid recruit against Alabama, playing 27 minutes and scoring 21 points in early January.

Lowe will have just one year of eligibility, but with the fact that he has not redshirted yet and missed most of last year with an injury, he could apply for a medical redshirt and potentially get one more year of eligibility with Georgetown.
