Former UNC Forward Ven-Allen Lubin has a new home in Raleigh as announced Sunday. A sure boost for NC State’s roster under new head coach for Will Wade and a sure blow to Carolina fans.

Lubin becomes the second former Tar Heel basketball player to end up at their bitter rival NC State. Dontrez Styles played for the Wolfpack last season after spending time at Georgetown after he played at UNC. Lubin has the distinction of going directly from one rival to another without a stop in between.

Before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion, I am letting everyone know that I am entering the transfer portal with full intent on returning to UNC. My action relates to the complexities surrounding the possible approval of the pending NCAA settlement.

Back in April, Lubin entered the transfer portal and expressed interest in landing back at Chapel Hill. He wrote on X, “Before anybody jumps to the wrong conclusion, I am letting everyone know that I am entering the transfer portal with full intent on returning to UNC. My action relates to the complexities surrounding the possible approval of the pending NCAA settlement.”

Lubin averaged 8.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Heels last season. The rising senior is sure to add depth to NC State’s front court under Will Wade.
