The Masters once again provided drama the entire weekend as it seems like it does every year.

The first two days looked like Rory McIlroy was going to run away from the field holding a record six shot lead. The day in golf on Saturday is called moving day and numerous experts thought Rory would move away from the field to an easy victory. I say, in the famous words of Lee Corso, “Not So Fast.” As Rory struggled, other golfers started to gain ground on him. The fact that Rory could not find his driver and was missing fairways let everyone trailing him back into it. I have to say I loved it only for the fact it would make Sunday a great watch as numerous golfers were in the mix for the win.

I can tell you Sunday did not disappoint either as Rory faltered, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton and Scottie Scheffler were all in the mix. I will say in the end Rory, after losing the lead, regained the lead and won. The win by Rory made him only the fourth golfer to win back-to-back Masters, which I will call rarified company joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods. The watch was great and Rory, you did it, and I say congratulations on your second Green Jacket!

The Detroit Pistons will open the NBA Playoffs with a home game on Sunday. I love the Pistons to win round one pretty handily in five games. I would love to tell you their opponent, but the NBA has these stupid play-in games that started Tuesday and went all week. I can positively tell you no play-in team will ever reach their conference finals game. The games are total money rakes for the NBA, and I cannot stand them. I’ve been watching all the experts picking the Boston Celtics to come out of the Eastern Conference and some have the laughable New York Knicks. I can tell you the Fat Guy says “in CADE I TRUST” and the Pistons are going to the NBA Finals. I am not buying into the “Pistons are too young” talk or that they lack experience. I went out and bought me a Pistons shirt the other day to wear proudly during the playoff run! I say GO ‘STONS!

The Detroit “Dead Things” season comes to another disappointing end this week. As I write this article one game remains, and they can go play golf for the tenth consecutive season. I thought about the fact they made 25 straight playoff appearances and now have missed 10 straight, which is absolutely absurd! The “Yzerplan” as it is referred to, I call the “Make A Tee Time Plan” which annoys the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks out of me year after year! I mean let’s be honest and admit the effort by the “Dead Things” the last month of the season was inexcusable! The team plays with no heart or guts as if they care less about playoff hockey. I watched the effort of all the other teams in the chase, and it was maximum effort the last three weeks of the season. The name of HockeyTown is now TEE TIME TOWN! I want to thank the Dead Things for supporting local golf courses.

The Detroit Tigers would like to thank the Miami Marlins for coming to Comerica Park last weekend. The Tigers, who were swept by Minnesota, turned around and swept the Miami Marlins. I can tell you it was a much-needed sweep too! The Tigers placed Parker Meadows on the 60-day injury report with a left radius fracture. I will say the Tigers bats have come out of their spring coma as the hitting has improved lately!

The NFL Draft will take place next week and what will the Motor City Kitties do? I will give you my thoughts next week!
