The Los Angeles Lakers are almost guaranteed that one of their players will make an All-NBA team this season, as the league granted Luka Doncic eligibility for all 2025-26 season honors. Doncic immediately went to social media to thank the league for ruling in favor of his Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge.

“I am grateful to the NBPA for advocating on my behalf and to the NBA for their fair decision. It was so important to me to be present for the birth of my daughter in December and I appreciate Mark, Jeanie, Rob, JJ, and the entire Lakers organization for fully supporting me and allowing me to travel to be there. This season has been so special to me because of what my teammates and I have been able to accomplish, and I am honored to have the opportunity to be considered for the league’s end-of-season awards,” Doncic wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Doncic played in 64 games this season, but missed two games because of the birth of his daughter and had to travel out of the country.

The league also granted Cade Cunningham eligibility for all-season honors, as he missed a handful of games toward the end of the season because of a collapsed lung. Both Doncic and Cunningham were slated to be on an All-NBA team after their play this season, and now they’ll have the chance to do so.

Doncic is probably hoping to get more good news, as he’s still sidelined with a hamstring strain that could force him to miss the first round of the playoffs against the Houston Rockets. The Lakers’ star has been in Europe getting treatment for the hamstring to speed up the recovery, but it’s still uncertain how long he will be sidelined.

The hope is that the Lakers can extend the series, or even advance past the first round, in order to give Doncic enough time to return.
