“It’s meant a lot to me,” McHugh said on representing the Mustangs at the All-Star game. “Coach (Chris) Ryburn, (Trent) Langford, and Malik (Brooks), they’ve really poured into me over the years and kind of built me up to who I am today, and I tried to do my best to represent them and the people that came to watch us today.”

Team Flores consisted of McHugh, Permian’s Javariane Beck, Crane’s Adam McGuire and Ivan Moreno, Kermit’s Mario Perez, Pecos’ Mateo Fernandez, and Odessa High’s Da’Vonte Montgomery and Brody Reeves. Team Reese highlighted Permian’s Bra’dyn Anderson, Big Spring’s Jacobi Lozano, McCamey’s Austin Brooks, Midland Christian’s Kohl Bremerman, Monahans’ Jason Munoz and Nicholas Scott, and Odessa High’s David Wade.

Halftime also featured a three-point contest with Lozano, Fernandez, Wade, Beck, Bremerman, and McHugh. Beck and Bremerman advanced to the finals with Beck taking the competition with 13 made shots to Bremerman’s 10.

“I feel like I really earned this,” Beck said on heating up in the 3-point competition and playing in the All-Star game. “All four years I put in the work, so stuff like that, stuff like this, it comes just natural.”Â
