Joel Embiid has not resumed basketball activities following appendectomy surgery and is unlikely to be available for the Sixers’ first-round series against the Celtics.

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid has not yet resumed basketball activities and is unlikely to play in the first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Jorge Sedano.

“It doesn’t look like we’ll see him anytime soon because he’s still dealing with the recovery from that surgery,” Sedano said. “And when we asked him about a potential return during this series, he said they’re not ruling it out.

“But again, this is something that’s still kind of touch-and-go. He hasn’t even started basketball activity or anything.”

Embiid already missed the Play-In Tournament after undergoing an appendectomy.

He last played on April 6 against the San Antonio Spurs, when he logged 39 minutes and finished with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks in a 115–102 loss.

This season, Embiid has appeared in 38 games for the Sixers, averaging 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
