Pistons star Cade Cunningham explains the loss in the first-round opener against the Magic as Detroit remains winless at home in the playoffs since 2008.
Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham explained Pistons’ loss in the first-round opener against the Orlando Magic on Sunday, 101-112.
Cunningham, who finished the game with 39 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, believes the Pistons came out a bit too tight or lax to start the game, which gave Orlando confidence early on and ran away with it.
“We came out a little too tight, lax or whatever the word is maybe both for some of us. We just did not come out with the right energy and gave them life early on. We had to deal with that for the rest of the game. We were better in the standings, we cannot dig a hole like that,” Cunningham said postgame.
“I know that they feel great about this game. It was a big win for them. They came in and handled their business and stole one on the road. That’s what you want to do in a playoff series, so I’m sure that they feel great about that. Obviously, we are sick about losing this one. It’s a long series, though,” the Pistons star guard added.
This loss in the first-round opener against the Magic marks the Pistons’ 11th straight NBA playoff loss at home, as they remain winless at home since 2008.
They will try to break this streak on Wednesday, with Game 2 scheduled for 7pm ET in Detroit.
