Buss is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, a basketball team her father purchased in 1979. The team was valued at more than $8 billion last year, up from $1 billon in 2013, making it one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. Buss took over the team in 2017, making her the first female controlling owner of an NBA team to win the NBA Finals. To date, the Lakers have won 17 championships, including 12 in L.A. The team has also reached 32 Finals, which is more than any other team. Buss is also the co-owner and co-founder of Women of Wrestling, which was initially founded in 2000 before being rebooted by Buss years later.
