NBA Draft Lottery odds finalized: Pelicans have 6.8% chance to win, but traded pick away last summer
It was another disappointing season for basketball in the Big Easy. The Pelicans failed to win 30 games. The head coach was fired midseason, and fan apathy is at an all-time low. But despite what it might look on the outside, on the inside, Pelicans executive Joe Dumars believes they’re close to. Getting it right and Dumars would know what works because he’s won an NBA title as an executive and did it just 4 seasons into serving as the Pistons VP, *** season that he then followed up with an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. Man, we’re in *** better position now here than we were there, and so that’s why I’m so, uh, positive about this experience here. We’re much further along than, uh, when I took over Detroit. No matter where you start, you better have *** vision and *** focus for what kind of team you wanna be, what, what, what, what kind of players you wanna get like you, you have to be crystal clear in your mind and your organization has to be crystal clear in the type of guys you wanna bring in like we all believe in the same thing like, yeah, you got, you gotta be tougher, you gotta be stronger, you gotta battle, you gotta compete every night, uh, and if it gets *** little chippy, mm, that’s, that’s fine too. And so, um. I’m just saying that that you have to know who you want to be and we know who we want to be. Dumars also spoke *** great deal about the future of the franchise, which of course includes the head coaching vacancy. The VP said there is no timeline and no definitive list for that job.
