Milwaukee Bucks owners made a key trip to Memphis last week for crucial head coach talks with Taylor Jenkins, as the franchise moves forward in its search for a new leader.
According to league sources, per The Athletic, owners Wes Edens and Jimmy Haslam, along with general manager Jon Horst, traveled to Memphis to meet Jenkins in person. The focus of the meeting was Milwaukee’s head coach opening and the direction of the team going forward.
Jenkins, who still lives in Memphis with his family, sat down with Bucks leadership to discuss the vision for the future and how he would fit into the organization. While no deal is in place, the meeting is seen as an important step in the process.
Contract terms have not been discussed yet, but both sides are expected to meet again soon as talks continue to develop.

Jenkins is one of the most respected coaching names on the market. He previously led the Memphis Grizzlies from 2019 to 2025, finishing with a 250-214 record.
During his tenure, Memphis reached the playoffs four times in six seasons, including a strong 2021-22 campaign where the team won 56 games and advanced to the second round.
He also has a past connection with Milwaukee, having worked as an assistant coach with the Bucks under Mike Budenholzer in the 2018-19 season, when the team won 60 games and reached the Eastern Conference Finals.
