The No. 3 Razorback baseball team advanced to its first NCAA Tournament super regional since 2022 with an 8-3 win over Creighton Sunday night. Following a 12-1 thrashing of the Blue Jays in the winners’ bracket the night before, Arkansas resumed its offensive clinic early, scoring home runs in each of its first three appearances at the plate. Logan Maxwell got things started off with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first before Justin Thomas Jr. brought in three runs off a 400-foot shot to the Hog Pen in the second. Ryder Helfrick then tacked on a solo round-tripper in the third to put Arkansas on top 6-0. Right-handed pitcher Gage Wood was phenomenal in his start. The Batesville, Arkansas, native tallied a career-high 13 strikeouts in six innings of work while not allowing a single walk. However, Creighton was able to land a blow off the righty in the top of the fourth as Ben North hammered a three-run homer to make it 6-3 Arkansas. The Razorback offense quickly regained momentum in the fifth inning after Maxwell crushed his second long ball of the night 422 feet, extending the Hogs’ lead to four. Charles Davalan followed that up with an RBI triple to center field in the sixth for Arkansas’ final run of the night. Up next, Arkansas will stay home to host a super regional June 6-9, and will face the winner of Knoxville Regional final between No. 14 Tennessee/Wake Forest.
