New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown named among potential candidates to replace Steve Kerr as head coach of the Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors are likely to have a new head coach next season, with Steve Kerr expected to end his tenure with the franchise after 12 seasons.

Tim Kawakami of The San Francisco Standard listed various names that the Warriors could potentially be interested in to replace their long-time head coach, among which is the current New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown.
“The most obvious option would be much-loved Warriors former top assistant and interim coach Mike Brown,” Kawakami writes. “But he’d have to get fired by the Knicks for that to happen. Not an impossibility under owner James Dolan, but also not too likely.”

Kawakami went on to name a couple more options that the Warriors could look at.
“Also, I think the Warriors might love to talk to Jordi Fernández if he wasn’t already set up in Brooklyn,” he noted.
“And I’ve previously mentioned Florida coach Todd Golden, who many in the sport believe is destined to land an NBA job within a few years and who might round out what could be a top tier of potential post-Kerr candidates.”
Although if talks with the previously mentioned coaches don’t develop, they would most likely consider less experienced coaches, with a former Warriors player named as a shocking potential option.
“I don’t think Lacob and Dunleavy would be locked into any specific criteria, but I think if it gets past Brown, they’d most likely be interested in a younger, development-minded candidate with some background using analytics,” he wrote.
“Well-regarded current assistants who could fit that model: Micah Nori (Minnesota), Chris Quinn (Miami), Sean Sweeney (San Antonio), and Johnnie Bryant (Cleveland).”
“Other names, some more realistic than others: Current defensive coordinator Jerry Stackhouse, current offensive coordinator Terry Stotts, Boston assistant Sam Cassell, TV analyst Brent Barry, and my outside-the-envelope candidate … Andre Iguodala,” he added.
