Cam’ron wasted no time getting Tyrese Haliburton to address the perception that he only surrounds himself with white women.
Haliburton told Cam on the latest episode of It Is What It Is that he and his fiancée Jade Jones grew up in areas of the country that were predominately white. “I’m from Wisconsin. I grew up around all white people,” he said. “My girl is from Iowa. She grew up around all white people.”
The Indiana Pacers star explained that the viral video of the white women who stepped out a vehicle before him and walked into a party celebrating the U.S. men’s basketball team’s Olympic gold medal were Jones’ friends.
“It’s like, her sister and her friends growing up. So, people killing me,” he said. “I’m like, these are just our people from growing up.”
Haliburton announced his engagement to Jones in an Instagram post in July 2025. “The place where our story started, and where our next chapter begins❤️💍” the caption reads.
According to People, Haliburton and Jones started dating in 2019 when they were attending Iowa State. Halibuton played for the Cyclones men’s basketball team, and Jones was a cheerleader at the university.
When Haliburton got down on one knee on the court at Iowa State University’s Hilton Coliseum, he proposed just over one month removed from suffering an Achilles injury in the NBA Finals, which is why he’s wearing a boot in the above photo.
