The Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons meet Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, for Game 5 of their first-round Eastern Conference series. Tip-off is at at 7 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze NBA odds around the Magic vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Best-of-7 series: Magic lead 3-1

The eighth-seeded Magic beat the top-seeded Pistons in Game 1 in Detroit (112-101), Game 3 at home (113-105) and 94-88 in Game 4 Monday as a 3.5-point home underdog as the Under (213.5) cashed. G Desmond Bane scored 22. Orlando is 4-2 against the spread (ATS) and 1-5 O/U in postseason play.

Orlando, which had to win an elimination game at home in the Play In Tournament, could become just the seventh No. 8 seed to defeat a No. 1 in a series in league history. It’s happened only 4 times since the playoffs were expanded to a best-of-7 series for all rounds in 2003.

The Pistons, who won 60 games in the regular season, haven’t advanced to the second round since 2008. G Cade Cunningham led the way for Detroit Monday, dropping 25 points, but hit just 7 of 23 shots and committed 8 turnovers. The Pistons are 1-3 ATS and 1-3 O/U in their first-round series. They won 98-83 at home in Game 2.

Magic at Pistons picks and predictionsPrediction

Pistons 108, Magic 101

PASS.

Avoid this play. The Pistons (-425) were a 60-win regular season team and should come out on top, especially in an elimination game. However, they are far too expensive to consider.

BET MAGIC +10.5 (-115).

Orlando has been a different beast on the defensive side during this series. With a similar roster, Orlando was No. 1 in the NBA in defensive rating during the 2023-24 season, so it can reach that level. The Magic have yet to allow north of 105 points, and they should be able to defend well enough to keep this game close. Orlando is 20-17 ATS as an underdog, per teamrankings.com.

Cunningham is shooting just 42.4% from the field and 28.6% from deep this series. He’s being swarmed, and no one else has stepped up. Those struggles should continue Wednesday night, especially with the limited spacing Detroit has.

BET UNDER 211.5 (-110).

Neither team has found much stride offensively, and as the series continues, the games should get more and more intense. The total is 1-3 O/U in this series with a team topping 105 just twice (Orlando in Game 1 and in Game 3).

Despite being at home, the Pistons are averaging just 99.5 points per game on their home court in the playoffs. Expect those trends to continue and take the Under here.
