• I’m ticked off that ABC preempted “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune” for the NFL Draft. Keep sports on ESPN.
• We weren’t able to watch last Saturday’s Orlando Magic playoff game because it was on Peacock, a station we cannot get. (We tried.) Tried to listen online while the neighbor made enough noise cutting and trimming his yard during the entire game. No sports places near us to show games on Peacock or Prime.
• I’m ticked off that dozens of sloths died while in the care of people who were supposed to protect them. Calling it “tragic” doesn’t change the fact that it was preventable.
• I’m ticked off because that excellent comic strip, “For Better or Worse,” is almost impossible to read because the print is so small. Can’t one or two of the others on that page be shrunk a little to accommodate it? Thanks for listening.
The flip side
• I was delighted to read about the Jacksonville University law student who gave part of her liver to a 4-year-old boy to keep him from suffering any more. What an unselfish gesture by someone who did not know the boy or family but just thought she could help. What made me cry was that she said, “The surgeons did the hard part. I just showed up is kind of how I see it.” She sacrificed way more than that. If there are more young people like her out there, our future is in good hands. Thanks to her and the family who raised her.
