The Brooklyn Nets are exploring the trade market to acquire veteran talent ahead of the 2026 offseason, with Oklahoma City’s Cason Wallace and Orlando’s Jalen Suggs emerging as potential targets. The team aims to utilize significant cap space to improve their roster following the NBA Draft Lottery on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Writer Dan Favale identified both guards as viable options for General Manager Sean Marks to bolster a rotation currently featuring several young players. The pursuit of these athletes comes as Brooklyn seeks consistent production and veteran leadership to guide its recent draft picks.
“Cason Wallace and Jalen Suggs are both defensive menaces who have at times flashed slightly-deeper-than-complementary offensive bags,” wrote Dan Favale for Bleacher Report.

Favale noted that both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Orlando Magic face looming financial constraints that could force them to move talented players. Brooklyn remains positioned as a primary facilitator for such transactions due to its available financial flexibility.
“Each hails from a team that’s barreling toward tough financial decisions that’ll invariably culminate in higher-profile collateral damage,” Favale continued.
“The Nets once again have the cap flexibility to facilitate gobs of relief,” Favale added while discussing the potential for absorbing contracts from other franchises.

Wallace, 22, recorded averages of 8.6 points and 2.6 assists per game during his recent campaign with the Thunder. He maintained a 43.2% shooting efficiency from the field and converted 35.1% of his attempts from the three-point line.
Suggs, 24, provided the Magic with 13.8 points and 5.5 assists per game throughout the season. His shooting splits included 43.5% from the floor and 33.9% from beyond the arc as a starter in Orlando.
Acquiring either player would likely require the Nets to surrender significant draft capital or assets. The team’s decision will depend on how Marks chooses to balance the development of four guards selected in the 2025 NBA Draft with the need for proven defensive contributors.
