With Anthony Edwards returning from a knee injury and missing the services of Ayo Dosunmu because of a calf issue, the Timberwolves managed to pull off a 104-102 victory at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
However, Edwards has a questionable status for Game 2, per the NBA’s official injury report on Tuesday. It’s the same status label for Dosunmu.
It can be recalled that Edwards hyperextended his left knee during Game 4 of the Timberwolves’ first-round series against the Denver Nuggets. He was initially considered week-to-week but ended up missing only the final two games of the Nuggets series before returning to action for the series opener against the Spurs. As for Dosunmu, he last played in Game 5 of the Nuggets series.
In the win over the Spurs, Edwards came off the bench and played 25 minutes, scoring 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field with two 3-pointers, three rebounds, three assists, and a block. Despite a solid showing, considering he had just returned from a painful injury, Edwards said after the game that he was far from satisfied with his performance.

The blow of Dosunmu’s absence was greatly softened by Terrence Shannon Jr., who stepped up as part of the Timberwolves’ starting unit versus the Spurs. Shannon Jr. scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out an assist. He shot just 5-for-13 from the floor but was 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.
In any case, the Timberwolves will be taking aim at gaining a 2-0 series lead over the Spurs in Game 2 Wednesday in San Antonio.
