Nebraska men’s basketball announced a series of contract extensions on Tuesday morning. Assistant coaches Nate Loenser, Ernie Ziegler, Pat Monaghan, and general manager Luca Virgillio were all extended on Tuesday.

Loenser’s extension is notable, as he now carries the title of associate head coach. He served as defensive coordinator at Nebraska and also worked with Hoiberg at Iowa State and with the Chicago Bulls. Ziegler joined the program in 2022. He is primarily an offensive coach and also helps with recruiting.

Monaghan joined the coaching staff in April 2025. He also helps with player development, game planning, and recruiting. Virgillio has been with Hoiberg throughout his entire tenure at Nebraska.

All four individuals have played a large part in building the program. The program itself is on an upward trajectory, having most recently reached the Sweet 16. These extensions will allow the program to continue to build.
