After four straight blowout playoff wins, New York Knicks legend Walt Frazier thinks this team can go all the way and win a championship in the NBA Finals this year.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Frazier discussed this year’s Knicks team. He sees a lot of his past championship teams in them, and that gives him hope.
“I’m mesmerized by the way the team is playing,” Frazier said. “Actually, I’m living vicariously. They remind me of my team; my team personified team. You couldn’t mention Frazier without [Bill] Bradley, without [Dave] DeBusschere, without [Willis] Reed, without [Dick] Barnett.
“I see similarities to this team. So, they’re starting to do that. Their camaraderie, their teamwork; they like each other; it’s manifested on the court — 33 assists. The way they’re dishin’ and swishin’ now, the tenacious defense. So hopefully, we’ll see another championship, guys,” he continued.

On Monday, May 4, 2026, the Knicks began their playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers. Frazier was one of the several celebrities at the game. Other former New York athletes, ranging from JR Smith to Justin Tuck, were also there.
During the Game 1 broadcast, Frazier was shown enjoying the game. He was sporting his two championship rings, and he appeared hopeful the Knicks would win their third title this year.
The Knicks have been on a tear in recent weeks. They have won their last four games dating back to their series against the Atlanta Hawks, winning all four contests by double digits. The Knicks have won the last four games by margins of 16, 29, 51, and 37 points, respectively.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 35 points. OG Anunoby continued his hot streak by scoring 18 points while making seven of his eight shots.
