MARATHON, Wis. (WSAW) – For the third time in the past four years, Marathon boys head basketball coach Adam Jacobson has been named the NewsChannel 7 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.
Jacobson has led the Red Raiders to four Marawood Conference championships in the last five years.
NewsChannel 7 Sports Director Ben Helwig surprised Jacobson with the award Monday morning. Jacobson was surrounded by his players and assistant coaches.
“There’s a lot that goes into this. We talk a lot about a proud past and a promising future, and we try to take great pride in that. And there’s a lot of people that goes into that. From your Little Red Raiders, your youth coaches that put a ton into this, the coaches that we have. We’re very fortunate we have minimal turnover, we have a tremendous staff. And then of course the guys that put in a ton of work,” said Jacobson.
The NewsChannel 7 Coach of the Year award is voted on by the basketball coaches in central Wisconsin.
