The Minnesota Timberwolves crashed out against the San Antonio Spurs, 126-97, in Game 5 of their second-round series in the playoffs at Frost Bank Center on Tuesday, and are now on the brink of elimination.

The Timberwolves had a lackluster start, allowing the Spurs to set the tone, which led to the lopsided outcome. Minnesota trailed by as much as 30 points.

The Timberwolves went on a 14-2 run at the start of the third quarter, but the Spurs quickly responded and doused cold water on Anthony Edwards and company.

When asked about why they lost, Edwards gave an honest answer, as shown in the video posted by GopherHole.com’s Nadine Babu.

“I don’t know. I gotta go look at the film to really answer that question. But first thing that comes to mind is second-chance points,” said the four-time All-Star.

“They had 11 offensive rebounds. We had 10 offensive rebounds. It’s kind of even. But I think they converted on theirs more than we did.”

Edwards was wrong. They had 12 second-chance points, one more than the Spurs.

So, yeah, he really has to watch the film.

Edwards finished with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists. He also had a game-worst four turnovers and only took 13 shots.

Julius Randle had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Ayo Dosunmu added 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Edwards was limited to eight points in the first half, as the Spurs matched the physicality of the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves will try to save their season in Game 6 at Target Center on Friday.
