According to NBA insider Chad Ford, the Bucks could be eyeing the Los Angeles Clippers’ No. 5 overall pick as a way to kickstart their rebuild and could use Giannis Antetokounmpo as an asset to acquire the draft selection.

“If there was a team that I was looking at that had an asset, it’s Milwaukee at 10 that might use Giannis to, for example, maybe try to get that fifth pick from the Clippers,” Ford stated on The Kevin O’Connor Show.

“That seems like the one team that, if they decide that they’re not going to go with the youth movement, I mean, they’re really at a crossroads right now with what they want to do with Kawhi, whether they want to move on from Kawhi at this point, whether they want to start a youth movement again, or whether they want to make another run at this.”

“That seems to be the team Milwaukee could be eyeing and saying, ‘Hey, having the fifth pick as well as the 10th pick in the draft might be able to help us restart our rebuild.'”

“That’s the only team that I’m looking at right now where I say, ‘OK, I think they’ve got the juice,’ because I do think Giannis is a significant trade chip to throw into this to make a difference,” he said.

“But I don’t see Washington doing Giannis. I don’t see Utah doing that. I don’t see Memphis, and I don’t really see Chicago.”

“I think the Clippers are the only team that really makes sense there in the top five,” Ford added.

The Bucks’ 2025-26 season ended in disappointment at 32-50, missing both the playoffs and play-in tournament. It marked their first time outside the postseason since 2016, ending a nine-year streak.

Despite that, Antetokounmpo still produced strong numbers when healthy, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 36 games while dealing with multiple injuries including groin, calf and knee issues.
