SAN ANTONIO — Get your latest San Antonio Spurs swag while simultaneously helping the community by donating blood with South Texas Blood & Tissue.
Organizers announced Wednesday that blood donors will receive a limited-edition Spurs “One Team, One Cause” t-shirt when they give blood on a Spurs game day. Donors must use the promo code “GAMEDAY” when scheduling an appointment since quantities are limited. The first giveaway begins May 15. Appointments are available by visiting SouthTexasBlood.org or calling 833-YOU-GIVE (833-968-4483).
According to a press release, a unit of blood is transfused every three minutes in south Texas and while all blood types are critical, donors with type-O blood are highly encouraged to donate due to being the most common type – about 40% of the population. The increased demand for type-O blood is caused by trauma care, emergency surgeries and ongoing patient treatments.
