The Philadelphia 76ers have a few big decisions to make regarding the future of some of their players in the offseason, but they have a bigger one to make first: fill the shoes of Daryl Morey. Morey was let go by Philadelphia earlier in the month, following the team’s elimination from the NBA playoffs, and a season that saw some rather questionable decisions, including the departure of Jared McCain at the trade deadline.

Former Golden State Warriors’ executive and current President of Sports for the Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment group, Bob Myers, has led Philadelphia’s search for their next general manager, which has led them to the likes of Mike Gansey, Matt Llyod, Nick U’Ren.
But according to a recent report, there are a few names that have been crossed out and taken out of the pool for the Sixers pool.
Who is out of the running?
As reported by Hoopshype’s Michael Scotto, the Sixers have taken the likes of Onsi Saleh, who wasn’t allowed to meet with Philadelphia by the Atlanta Hawks, and Bryson Graham out of the running, with the latter being due to hiring by the Chicago Bulls.

“Despite strong ties to Myers from their time together in Golden State, Atlanta’s Onsi Saleh won’t be a part of the search,” Scotto writes. “Saleh finished second in the league’s executive of the year voting, and after losing Bryson Graham to the Bulls, the Hawks declined to let the 76ers interview Saleh.”
But there was another name that was nixed from Philadelphia’s search, and was never a part of it, according to Scotto: former Sixer Andre Iguodala.
“Andre Iguodala, who won four NBA championships and has a close relationship with Myers, also didn’t end up being a part of the process when many around the league speculated he’d be a potential candidate,” reports Scotto.
Iguodala spent the first eight years of his career with Philadelphia, appearing in 615 games for the Sixers, the most of any team in his 19-year term in the league.

While the search for Philadelphia’s next general manager will go on, Scotto reports that it is projected to advance to new levels in the coming week.
“The search for a new basketball operations leader is expected to continue to the next stage sometime next week,” Scotto states.
