San Antonio Spurs are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. Of course, in the most San Antonio fashion, fans headed out to the streets to celebrate the historic victory. Cameras from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) show bumper-to-bumper traffic, especially in and around downtown.

One camera angle off I-37 and the Alamodome shows cars nearly at a standstill with the Tower of the Americas in the background, doused in green. I-37 and Cesar Chavez show a different angle near the Alamodome with a sea of red taillights. Over on I-35 and Southcross, traffic monitoring site SigAlert reports cars moving as slowly as 7 miles per hour. The good news is that no major crashes were reported as of 11:30 p.m.

Whether fans were heading home from watch parties at Frost Bank Center or The Rock at La Cantera, the celebration was likely far from over. In San Antonio, few postgame traditions rival the chorus of car horns echoing down Commerce Street and Military Drive after a Spurs Western Conference Finals win.

Not everyone was celebrating from behind the wheel, though. Some fans were expected to head straight to Academy Sports + Outdoors in search of the newly minted Western Conference Finals championship T-shirt. An Academy spokesperson said stores are expected to open at midnight Sunday, May 31, for eager Spurs fans looking to gear up for the NBA Finals.

If you’d rather sleep in a bit, Dick’s Sporting Goods locations across the San Antonio area are also gearing up for a rush of fans, with championship merchandise expected to go on sale at 7 a.m. Sunday.
