NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Pelicans are open to trades with only two players considered untouchable on the roster, according to reports.
Pelicans executive Joe Dumars said last Tuesday the team is open to everything and not closing the door on anyone.
Bill Simmons said on his podcast Saturday night that he assumes Pelicans forward Trey Murphy will get traded in the next three weeks.
Jake Madison on the Locked on Pelicans podcast said there are only two untouchable players on the Pelicans roster: rookies Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears. Both were named to the second team all-NBA rookie team.
The Pelicans currently own the 58th pick in the draft. The draft is at the end of the month.
Pelicans playoff drought
The Pelicans have made the playoffs twice in the last eight years. They were swept by the Thunder two seasons ago and lost to the Phoenix Suns in six games in the 2021-22 season.
Head coach Jamahl Mosley said in his press conference last Tuesday that the Pelicans are on the cusp. He said the team will take it step by step.
