Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz was charged with aggravated assault in Houston after a nightclub incident where he allegedly used a hookah as a weapon on club security.Â
The Baton Rouge rapper, along with other hip-hop acts like Atlanta rapper Lil Baby, came to Houston for a slew of Memorial Day club promotions and parties during the holiday weekend. Boosie made an appearance and performed at The Dome in Houston and also hosted and appeared at several other events at hotspots like Kamp Houston, taking advantage of the city’s seemingly endless appetite for Sunday funday activities.Â
Unfortunately, the prolonged stay in Houston seems to have resulted in more legal trouble for the “Set It Off” rapper.Â
The Louisiana rapper, real name Torrence Hatch Jr., has been charged with felony aggravated assault in relation to an alleged altercation inside a downtown Houston nightclub during Memorial Day weekend, according to Harris County court documents. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrests.Â
According to investigators, the altercation took place early on May 24 as the nightclub was shutting down after a security guard allegedly refused to allow Boosie’s female friend to go to the restroom. According to court filings, the situation escalated as a security guard was escorting a woman from the event.Â
Police say the security guard was hit in the back of the head as he stooped to get the woman’s possessions off the ground. The guard then reported to the police that he spotted Boosie, who he referred to by his stagename of Boosie Badazz, clutching a shattered glass hookah base and that he saw blood streaming down his face.Â
Investigators were informed by a second security guard that he saw the security guard bleeding from the head after hearing glass break during the altercation. The witness claimed to have seen Boosie screaming at the wounded guard while brandishing a shattered glass hookah base.Â
Boosie was incarcerated from 2009 until 2014 for both a probation violation and narcotics possession in Baton Rouge. He was charged with first-degree murder in 2010, but two years later, he was found not guilty.Â
The rapper was federally charged with having a handgun as a convicted criminal following an arrest in San Diego in 2023. Boosie avoided jail time by entering a guilty plea to those counts in federal court. Instead, he was given a $50,000 fine, community service and supervised release in January of this year.Â
Boosie has not been arrested as of Monday, but is expected to appear in Harris County court today.Â
