The Washington Mystics defeated the Chicago Sky, 90-72 on Tuesday night at CareFirst Arena.
After an even first quarter, the Mystics gradually began to break the game open by outshooting the Sky in the second quarter and got to the line 13 times in the third quarter, earning a 74-58 lead heading into the fourth quarter. That said, it’s not bad when you’re seeing timely shots like this.
Or Kiki Iriafen making shots like this.
By the time the fourth quarter came around, it was a back and forth affair with both teams not shooting very well.
Shakira Austin led the Mystics with 17 points while Iriafen added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Onyenwere added 13 more points. For the Sky, Sydney Taylor led with 15 points off the bench while former Mystics guard Natasha Cloud started but was scoreless.
All in all, this game was not bad work considering that Sonia Citron was out tonight due to a foot injury.
The Mystics’ next game is on Saturday when they play the Atlanta Dream on the road. Tip off is at 6 p.m. ET. See you then.
