It appears Mark Cuban is a fan of the site the Dallas Mavericks chose for their new arena.
Cuban, who sold a controlling interest in the Mavericks to the Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont families in 2023, spoke about the team’s choice of the former site of the Valley View Mall in a recent interview with Haymaker Network’s House of Haymaker. According to Cuban, the site’s location is one of several positives to look forward to.

“It’s in Dallas and that’s first and foremost. People know Valley View and know how to get there; 635 is right there. They’ll have to do some work to improve the access, which they will,” Cuban said. “It’ll be great for the community there. We had looked at it before I sold. There were just some ownership issues, just things that were confusing and made it more difficult.
“I guess now that they’re not doing a casino, that’s more than enough space. So I think that’s a great choice.”
In a statement, the Mavericks said the former Valley View Mall site would give the team the opportunity to “create a vibrant mixed-use destination.” Along with the arena, the area would have restaurants, entertainment options, public green spaces and family-friendly experiences.
“The Valley View site meets most of the criteria established at the outset of our evaluation process,” the Mavericks said in a statement to The Dallas Morning News. “It is our goal to stay in the City of Dallas and this is our best option to do so.”
